Yeah, real... um... hilarious. I don't get it. Did you just mistake his use of the word 'commend' for 'condemn' and then think the misperception was funny?
Please tell me I'm missing something.
I think the joke is in several places (in my mind, at least). First, sort of in the non-appreciation of art (no way you'd get me painting a ceiling for 6 years...) and the "you gotta do what you gotta do." Then in the fact that he doesn't exactly seem to get that Michelangelo is not currently living to receive his commendation. Which also makes me laugh. Like, Michelangelo (were he actually alive) feels so affirmed now that he's been "commended" by someone.
Anyone else get me?
What's funny is that some overpaid athlete thinks his inarticulate, euphamism-laden endorsement of one of the greatest works of art somehow matters; AS IF it might impress or enlighten others. Whatever. This guy probably aspires to be featured on "Cribs".
