and in the other corner...

weighing in at over 15 years on the 3rd Circuit Court, with an undergraduate degree from Princeton, and a law degree from Yale, as well as an honerable discharge from the US Army Reserves, we have the Honorable Saaaaaaaammmmmmm Alito!!!

Hm...are all you liberals happy that Meirs isn't around any more, or are you going to miss her wishy-washy, undecisiveness while watching the lovable Sandy's replacement take the court back to its original roots of interpreting law, not making it?

Predictions, anyone?

Yeah, I will miss Miss Harrie's presence on SCOTUS. If she had made her uphill battle to acceptance, Miers would have remained there at least a decade after Bush left the White House. As such she would have constituted the perfect emblem of Bush's poor taste and judgement when left to his own devices, without Rove's prompting.

Scalito's appointment was the inevitable result of the past election. He is what he is. He's qualified, if not in the public interest. As such, he should be voted up-or-down - preferably down - but not filibustered. Republicans want a big fight, so they can deflect discussion from their collective treason in the conduct of foreign policy. I would like to disappoint them.

Republicans should be getting re-acquainted with disappointment.
