Miers Withdraws!
Now, if only I had purchased a Powerball ticket too...
Yeah, I will miss Miss Harrie's presence on SCOTUS. If she had made her uphill battle to acceptance, Miers would have remained there at least a decade after Bush left the White House. As such she would have constituted the perfect emblem of Bush's poor taste and judgement when left to his own devices, without Rove's prompting.
Scalito's appointment was the inevitable result of the past election. He is what he is. He's qualified, if not in the public interest. As such, he should be voted up-or-down - preferably down - but not filibustered. Republicans want a big fight, so they can deflect discussion from their collective treason in the conduct of foreign policy. I would like to disappoint them.
Republicans should be getting re-acquainted with disappointment.
